Okay I’ll admit it: I’m not one to obsess over trends. Sure, I appreciate them, but do I follow every single one? Absolutely not. Personally, I think copy-catting takes away from a person’s individual style. But what if you really, really, really love the trend?
Just go for it. Take me for example: I’ve tried cutting my hair short several times in my life, but not once has it worked in my favor. I think the main problem was I didn’t know what flattered my face shape.
So when all of Hollywood- including, yes, my girl, Taylor Swift- decided to chop their long locks for a long bob, you would have thought I would have steered away. Not today, ladies! After months spent on Pinterest determining which shape I wanted, I booked myself a trip to my hairdresser and cut six inches off of my mane. Was it worth it? Check for yourself:

Is there a new trend you’re dying to try?
I have always loved jewelry. My humble beginnings as a designer began with elastic thread and plastic beads, turning items so small into something that can make or break an outfit. At the age of four, I was hooked by the pure fact that all you need is a simple necklace or earring to pull your whole look together.
Enter my obsession with statement necklaces, which began a little over two years ago. My first purchase was a red bubble necklace that I wore every. Single. Day. With every. Single. Outfit. All of my friends hated it and begged me to get rid of it. Still, I refused, and only stopped wearing it when it broke, along with my heart. Eventually, I bought more necklaces so I could actually have a rotation. I also fixed my beloved red bubble necklace and continue to wear it from time to time, despite a few groans from my peers.
However, my current favorite is one given to me by one of my best friends, Cheyenne. I’m not sure if the gift was an attempt to get me to break away from my red necklace, but whatever. I wore it last night to my uncle’s 80th birthday party and it paired perfectly with my green Vicker’s bow bracelet from KJP, shown below.

I love wearing statement necklaces with collared shirts. This way, you can tuck the chain portion underneath and let the gorgeous statement portion do its magic. The blouse that I wore (shown above) is from J.Crew Factory and I am unbelievably obsessed!

As you may know, yesterday was the birth of xoxo, Samantha Ann. Surprisingly enough, I have a totally different New Years resolution than blogging: I want to be fit. I know, I know. Same resolution, different year, different girl. But hear me out first.
My parents divorced when I was four. As a result, I often turned to food for comfort. This resulted in me being overweight as a child. I remember being in second grade and being 121 pounds. My heaviest was when I was 12 and exceeding 200 pounds.
Around that time, I started playing sports. Since I had practice every day, I had less opportunities to pig out. Add in the fact that I was actually being active for a chance, I started to lose weight. Over the course of a year, I lost almost 50 pounds!
Two years ago I lost 15 pounds in one summer! Then I started dating Jerry and gained it all back. One of our shared interests is eating- so much so that we frequent a local buffet every weekend and once spent $21 buying junk food at a convenience store. I was recently given these wise words of wisdom: if you’re not gaining weight, you’re not in love. Obviously, me and Jerry are meant to be together forever by our eating patterns. However, there is no rule that we can’t eat together and still be healthy.
On Monday, I’m starting Kayla Itsines Beach Body Guide 1.0 for the second time. I’ll be part of #thekaylamovement, where girls around the world- including Kayla herself!- will be doing the guides as a team. In addition, I will be giving my best effort to eat as healthy as I can, and choose to go for the salad bar at the buffet instead of the self-serve ice cream bar.
What are your resolutions? Spill all of the details in my comments!
Ok let’s get this over with: Hi! My name is Samantha, although I consider myself a Jackie and idolize Blair. I’m super passionate about a few things: God, my oh-so-perfect boyfriend Jerry, my amazing friends and family, and, of course, writing and fashion. I’m an award-winning short story writer, and began my impressive purse collection at the age of five. In fact, as a young child I used to cringe when I saw the clothing my mother wore and exclaim, “You need to get fashion, Mom!”
I began making my own jewelry out of my house when I was four. By the time I was ten, I had a job lined up for me at a local boutique when I turned sixteen. When I was eleven, I was selling pieces to a boutique in Dallas. At twelve, I started taking orders and doing so called “trunk shows” around my community.
Since then, I’ve learned how to sew and developed what my mom likes to call “finer taste” and what Jerry likes to call “breaking his wallet”. However, I choose to use this interest to drive my passions. My goal is to pursue a job in fashion- every girl’s dream, right?!- and spend the rest of my life doing what I love and correcting my mother’s absurd fashion choices. Kidding! Kind of.
I’m excited about what the future holds for both me and the fashion world! This includes getting to know all who read my blog. I hope to get to know each of my followers, so don’t be afraid to comment below!
